Filipe Toledo takes out the prestigious ASP Prime event in Huntington Beach.
Three Primes down, five to go and we are seeing a couple of surfers running away in the Qualification Series ranks.
On the QS following the Vans US Open, which Filipe Toledo (BRA) won, we have seen some changes:
Matt Banting (AUS) is now leading the ranks, having taken it from Adriano de Souza (BRA), while Toledo jumped eight spots to second. Adam Melling (AUS), meanwhile, finished third in the US Open and is now up 15 spots to seventh. Willian Cardoso (BRA), with his second-place finish in Huntington Beach, jumped a massive 55 spots to 11th while Brett Simpson (USA) with a third, jumped 69 spots to 14th. Downwards, not much happened worth worrying about.

This edition's list includes 11 surfers, as Adriano surely has already qualified for the 2015 WCT, given that he's ranked World No. 7 in the elite Top 34. Toledo is close to the WCT but Jadson Andre (BRA) needs some good results and so do Matt Wilkinson (AUS) and Melling. At least Andre and Melling have some great results on the QS and, with five more Primes left this season, should be able to add to those.
1 Matt Banting (AUS) 12920
2 Filipe Toledo (BRA) 12880
3 Adriano de Souza (BRA) 10789
4 Wiggolly Dantas (BRA) 10025
5 Keanu Asing (HAW) 9276
6 Jadson Andre (BRA) 9040
7 Adam Melling (AUS) 8702
8 Charles Martin (GLP) 8566
9 Tim Reyes (USA) 8410
10 Billy Stairmand (NZL) 8030
11 Tomas Hermes (BRA) 7100
Points cutoff for the Top 10 is already looking like a minimum of 10,000 with 12,000 probably safe. I still think 11,000 will be about it but with three down and five to go, who knows.
In the women's, this week's Paul Mitchell Super Girl Pro in Oceanside, CA, is the start of three consecutive, major 6-Star events, so the surfers are in overdrive to earn as many points as possible in the weeks ahead in the US, France, and Spain.
Updates to the Situation Room will appear when ranking changes worthy of reporting happen.
